Aerodrome and Velodrome, two altcoins, have announced their merger to form a new cross-chain decentralized exchange (DEX) called 'Aero.'

The merger is scheduled to launch on October 21st, with the Aero platform set to operate on multiple networks, including Base, Ethereum mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arc, and Ink.

As part of the merge, the existing $AERO and $VELO tokens will be combined under a single $AERO token. The revenue sharing model states that approximately 94.5% of previous revenues will be allocated to $AERO holders, while 5.5% will go to $VELO holders.

The merger is seen as an attempt to consolidate liquidity and user bases from both protocols under a single structure. With Aerodrome being a significant liquidity hub in the Base ecosystem and Velodrome playing a key role on OP Mainnet, this move could have significant implications for the crypto market.
