Africa's 1% Adoption Could Unlock Billions for XRP, Stellar, and XDC
The African continent is home to 1.5 billion people and offers a vast opportunity for blockchain adoption. Three projects, XRP, Stellar (XLM), and XDC, aim to address some of Africa's financial problems: expensive cross-border payments, limited access to foreign currency, millions of unbanked individuals, and a significant trade finance gap.
XRP focuses on cross-border liquidity, making it possible for African businesses to settle transactions between different local currencies without relying on US dollars as an intermediary. This could reduce the time it takes for international transfers from 2-5 days to mere seconds.
Stellar targets affordable payments and financial access, providing a platform for tokenized currencies and digital financial services. It also connects blockchain assets with physical cash infrastructure, allowing users to move between cash and digital assets through participating locations.
XDC, on the other hand, focuses on trade finance, supporting businesses in digitizing documents such as invoices and bills of lading, making verification easier and connecting them with additional sources of global capital.
