AI Agents Could Disrupt Corporate Software Monopolies from Within

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong thinks AI agents could break corporate software monopolies from within by allowing employees to compare services and choose alternatives based on performance, cost, and reliability.

Armstrong suggested that companies publish uptime, latency, and cost data, take feature requests openly, and charge internal teams like any other customer. He also said AI agents can discover services, compare them, and route around the bad ones.

'Most companies would move faster if internal platforms had to win their internal customers the same way they win external ones,' Armstrong wrote on X.
