Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong believes that artificial intelligence (AI) agents will soon need their own financial infrastructure, which could boost cryptocurrency adoption. According to Armstrong, AI agents will eventually transact far more per day than all humans combined and will require 'real-time programmable money'.

Armstrong suggests that cryptocurrencies like USD Coin, Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, Render, and Chainlink will benefit from this shift. These assets are pegged to the U.S. dollar or have a high level of utility, making them more suitable for AI agents' autonomous transactions.

The rise of AI agents could also lead to the decline of cryptocurrencies that are less scarce or useful, such as Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. This trend may take several years to play out but will likely separate the winners from the losers in the cryptocurrency market.
