Hardware Wallet Sales Spike Amid Coldcard Crisis

Trezor and Bitbox reported significant increases in sales following the Coldcard crisis, while Onekey also saw an uptick in business. According to Trezor's Head of Security, Jan Komárek, this surge is a positive sign for the Bitcoin industry as people affected by the Coldcard situation chose not to give up on self-custody.

The companies attributed the increase in sales partly to the Coldcard crisis, which led to discussions about hardware wallet security. This prompted them to review and improve their current security models.

Trezor reviewed its seed generation against the failure mode exploited by Coldcard, while Bitbox examined its random number generator code. Onekey conducted an additional end-to-end verification of entropy and seed-generation paths across its hardware wallet lineup.
