AI Agents Set to Fuel Next-Phase XRP Adoption
A new phase for XRP may emerge as AI agents move towards real-world spending. According to Chandler Fang, co-founder of t54 and former product lead at Ripple, autonomous software is advancing from purchasing digital resources to completing commercial tasks.
The next stage would give agents limited spending authority while requiring them to follow budgets, merchant restrictions, and approval rules established by users. Mastercard's Agent Pay for Machines program extends this model to invoices, computing capacity, and other machine-driven transactions businesses want handled without a person approving each one.
Fang said the payment asset would vary according to each transaction's purpose and settlement requirements, with XRP handling direct payments, routing, or final settlement, while Ripple USD (RLUSD) could provide dollar-denominated value for certain purchases. Long-term adoption could place agents inside treasury platforms, logistics systems, and financial applications without requiring users to interact directly with XRPL.
