AI Agents to Break Corporate Software Monopolies, Says Coinbase CEO

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong believes AI agents can break corporate software monopolies from within.

In a recent post on X, he said that if internal platforms had to compete for users like external products do, companies would move faster. He suggested publishing uptime, latency, and cost data, as well as taking feature requests openly. He also proposed charging internal teams 'like any other customer.'

Armstrong argued that AI agents make this practical by allowing them to discover services, compare them, and route around the bad ones.
