This breakthrough does not imply that Bitcoin has been compromised or hacked but rather indicates that future fault-tolerant quantum computers could potentially threaten its security. According to current estimates, a full-scale quantum attack on Bitcoin's private keys would necessitate over 1,400 logical qubits and millions of quantum gates, with approximately 30% of the Bitcoin supply already exposed through public keys.
