AI Crypto Projects Must Now Deliver or Else
The era of free money for AI crypto projects has come to an end. For two years, adding 'AI' to a whitepaper or pitch deck was enough to raise capital, regardless of substance. But now, investors are demanding proof that these projects can deliver.
Alice Liu, Head of Research at CoinMarketCap, says 'The AI tag is free; the market is finally charging for it.' In other words, just having an AI label is no longer enough to attract investment. Projects must now demonstrate real traction and actual users.
The shift in investor sentiment is a result of two key factors: the emergence of genuine AI companies that have shipped real products and demonstrated their capabilities, and the repeated failures of token projects that relied on hype rather than substance.
Investors are no longer willing to fund vague claims about 'machine learning optimization' or 'AI-driven this' or 'that.' They want to see concrete evidence of what a project can actually do. Projects with real users, transaction volume, and revenue are capturing the majority of new investment, while those without substance are being left behind.
