AI Cryptocurrency Sector Soars 54% in September, Potentially Setting Up New Winners
According to Grayscale's research director Zach Pandl, the AI-focused cryptocurrency sector has outperformed the overall market in September, rising by 54% compared to a 24% gain for the broader cryptocurrency market.
The sector, which currently comprises only around $15 billion in market value, is still the smallest among Grayscale's six designated categories.
NEAR, Venice (VVV), World (WLD), and Bittensor (TAO) have been particularly notable, with gains of 183%, 70%, 47%, and 37% respectively. These projects focus on various AI-related applications, including smart commerce, private AI use cases, human identity verification, and open AI networks.
Grayscale believes that public blockchains can provide a foundation for AI development by enabling secure payment systems, identity management, privacy computing, and verifiable records, potentially supplanting the current centralized ecosystems dominated by select companies. The firm predicts that this sector may produce one or multiple major winners within the next five years.
