AI-Driven Attacks Force Boltz to Halt Swap Services
Boltz, a non-custodial Bitcoin bridge, has indefinitely suspended its swap service due to an overwhelming surge in AI-assisted attacks. According to Boltz, these automated attacks have outpaced their ability to patch vulnerabilities, leaving them unable to safely operate the service.
The company emphasized that no user funds were ever at risk because the platform is non-custodial, meaning users retain control of their assets throughout the process. Boltz currently holds around $262,000 in total value locked, according to DeFiLlama.
Boltz stated that this is not a response to a single incident but rather a pattern of attacks that has accelerated over the past few days. The company cited its own security scans and the fact that it is being actively targeted by multiple resourceful groups as reasons for shutting down the service.
