Core Lightning, a major implementation used in the Bitcoin Lightning Network, has issued an urgent security warning to node operators. The team is working to address several AI-generated vulnerability reports and recommends that operators either upgrade to the upcoming security release or take their nodes offline.

The patch is not yet available, leaving operators with limited options. According to Core Lightning, operators who choose not to upgrade should restart their nodes using the offline option. Older versions of the platform will no longer receive support due to the security risks.

This warning comes after AI-assisted research flagged several vulnerabilities in the platform. The team initially issued the warning via the Core Lightning Discord and later shared it on Stacker News.

Core Lightning is not the only infrastructure facing security concerns. Recent incidents include a major hack of Coldcard, a loss of about $114 million in BTC due to a weak random number generator, as well as an actively exploited vulnerability affecting BTCPay Server.
