AI-Powered Attacks Force Boltz to Halt Bitcoin Swap Services
Boltz, a non-custodial Bitcoin swap provider, has paused its services indefinitely due to an escalating wave of AI-powered attacks on its infrastructure. The company claims that no user money was ever at risk, as the platform is designed to remain in control of users' assets throughout the swapping process.
The decision to shut down comes after months of increasingly sophisticated attacks against Boltz's systems. While the team has contained each incident, they admit that an attacker can exploit vulnerabilities faster than the company can identify and fix them.
Boltz emphasized that its API remains available for handling cooperative refunds and unilateral refund systems can be employed outside of the company's infrastructure. The company also stated that it is a completely bootstrapped entity with no transaction fees charged to clients for financial losses incurred from security events.
