AI Surpasses Bitcoin in Computing Infrastructure Profitability

AI has surpassed Bitcoin in terms of profitability for computing infrastructure, according to Meltem Demirors, founder of Crucible. While Bitcoin laid the groundwork for the current AI infrastructure boom, the primary product of computing has become 'intelligence' rather than cryptocurrency, she stated.

Demirors cited examples such as CoreWeave, which started with Ethereum mining, and Crusoe, which mined Bitcoin using flare gas. These companies have shifted their focus to high-performance computing and AI, which is now attracting trillions of dollars in capital.

As a result, miners are leaving the Bitcoin network in large numbers, posing a risk to its security. However, Demirors noted that the difficulty adjustment mechanism allows the network to adapt to this outflow of computing power.
