AI Unleashes Torrent of Vulnerabilities in Bitcoin Projects
A recent AI-powered security audit of Bitcoin projects has uncovered a staggering number of vulnerabilities. In just over a day, the coordinated effort involving 16 developers identified 85 critical bugs and 635 high-severity issues across 390 projects.
The team used AI-assisted review methods to examine wallets, cryptographic libraries, and supporting infrastructure. After 27.5 hours, they submitted 4,962 findings, with many of the critical reports already verified by project maintainers.
The developer coordinating the effort described the situation as extremely serious, emphasizing that human oversight remains necessary despite growing automation. The rapid disclosure of issues allows maintainers to confirm them using AI-powered tools and reduces the likelihood of other researchers independently identifying the same flaws first.
