Alderoty Pushes for Senate Meet-and-Greets with Crypto Holders Ahead of CLARITY Act Vote
Ripple's Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty is pushing Senators to meet everyday crypto holders before a crucial procedural vote on September 15. The CLARITY Act, which would establish a federal market regime for digital assets and split regulatory workload between the SEC and CFTC, has stalled due to unresolved politics.
Alderoty has reached out to offices of Senators who have voted against or are undecided on the bill. He urges them to connect with 'real people with digital assets' rather than lobbyists or industry executives. According to research by the National Cryptocurrency Association, approximately 67 million U.S. crypto holders exist.
The September 15 vote will determine whether the Senate can enter formal debate on the CLARITY Act. However, Republican Senators are skeptical about its passage due to ongoing negotiations over ethics provisions. Sen. Mike Rounds stated that 'the looks on the bill don't look good right now,' while Senator Thom Tillis said it may fail if there's no compromise.
