Tether Sets Sights on El Salvador Amid Growing Crypto Adoption
Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer, has announced its relocation to El Salvador in a strategic move to advance global Bitcoin adoption.
The company will finalize formalities to establish its headquarters in the country, which has been recognized for its progressive stance on cryptocurrencies and has officially recognized Bitcoin as legal tender.
This decision allows Tether to build on its previous collaborations with El Salvador, including a 2023 citizenship program that offered residency and citizenship opportunities for those investing $1 million in BTC or USDT within the country.
Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino stated, 'El Salvador is a beacon of innovation in the digital asset arena. Our presence here reflects our shared vision of financial freedom, innovation, and resilience, while reaffirming our dedication to empowering communities globally through decentralized technologies.'
