Algorand Powers Blockchain Services at Italy's Vesuvius National Park
The Algorand Foundation has announced that its AlgoWiFi platform is powering digital services at Vesuvius National Park in Italy.
The park, which welcomes around 700,000 visitors annually, now uses blockchain-backed tools for entry and keepsakes.
The connection figure is annual, reflecting usage across a full year rather than a single event. The AlgoWiFi platform supports over 200,000 connections per year, with services including ticketing, QR access, digital postcards, and visitor certification recorded on the blockchain.
The Foundation's announcement came on September 30, highlighting the potential for real-world adoption of blockchain technology in everyday travel and heritage experiences. The park's high-profile status and large visitor numbers make this a notable test case for Algorand's capabilities.
