Algorand Surges Ahead with Quantum-Resistant Transactions

Algorand is racing ahead in the battle against quantum computing threats. The blockchain platform has already processed over 140,000 quantum-resistant transactions since November 2025 using Falcon signatures, a post-quantum scheme selected by NIST.

This milestone puts Algorand far ahead of its competitors, including Sei Network, which still only has a draft proposal for SIP-5. While Sei's proposal aims to bind an ML-DSA-44 key to existing EVM addresses, it's still in the discussion phase and not implemented on mainnet.

Sei's draft proposal raises concerns about bandwidth demands, potentially increasing from 13 MB/s to 1.57 GB/s at high throughput. In contrast, Algorand is already expanding Falcon cryptography across its protocol stack.
