Altcoin ETF Rotation Fails to Spark a Broader Crypto Rally
On September 9th, US exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tied to Ethereum, XRP, and Solana saw a significant influx of capital, attracting almost $59 million. This move came as Bitcoin products posted losses of $120.24 million. The trend suggests that investors are shifting their focus towards alternative cryptocurrencies.
The Altcoin Season Index, maintained by BlockchainCenter, currently stands at 37, indicating that the broader market has not yet reflected this rotation. According to the index, a value above 75 would signify that three-quarters of the largest eligible tokens are outperforming Bitcoin over a 90-day period.
The divergence between the ETF market and the overall crypto market is becoming more pronounced as institutional investors have more options for diversifying their portfolios beyond Bitcoin. However, despite these new opportunities, capital remains concentrated in a handful of large assets, rather than trickling down to smaller tokens.
