Altcoin ETFs' Influence on Prices Falls Short
Altcoin ETFs, which allow investors to buy into a group of cryptocurrencies, saw relatively low inflows this week. According to data from SoSoValue, the combined inflows for Dogecoin, Litecoin, and HBAR funds were less than $10 million.
Chainlink funds, however, saw inflows of $8.3 million, surpassing the combined inflows of Solana and XRP funds. Despite this, Chainlink's price dropped 2% during the same period.
Experts point out that price changes have a more significant impact on these funds than the actual inflows of new capital. For instance, Polkadot's funds hold $11 million, but have seen only $2.6 million invested, about a quarter of their current worth.
The relationship between altcoin ETF flows and actual price moves turns out to be far stranger than most investors expect. While daily trading volumes far exceed the money flowing into these funds, it's unlikely that small altcoin ETFs have a substantial impact on prices.
