Altcoin Exchange Deposits Surge to Two-Year High Amid Potential Profit-Taking Risk
CryptoQuant's report highlights an unusual surge in altcoin exchange deposits, with activity hitting its highest level since October 2025. Over a seven-day period ending September 28, there were approximately 78,000 altcoin deposit transactions, representing a 160% increase from about 29,800 on September 14.
The number of addresses sending altcoins to exchanges also rose sharply, reaching around 51,600, the highest since October 2025. CryptoQuant notes that when holders move coins to exchanges, they often intend to sell, suggesting potential profit-taking risk in the altcoin market.
Despite this increase in exchange inflows, Bitcoin's dominance has remained relatively stable, with its share of total crypto market capitalization ranging between 58% and 60.4% since May 27, according to TradingView data. Meanwhile, assets outside the top 10 by market cap have reached a 9% share of total market value on September 27, the highest since February.
