Altcoin Surge: NEAR Leads Charge with 60% Gain, O'Leary Bets Against Ethereum
Over the past week, seven altcoins experienced significant price gains, with Near Protocol (NEAR) leading the charge. NEAR's price rose over 60%, followed closely by Arbitrum (ARB) at 54%. Other notable gainers included Ethena (ENA), up nearly 49%, and Avalanche (AVAX), which added over 40%. Uniswap (UNI), Zcash (ZEC), and Injective (INJ) also saw substantial increases, with gains of 38%, 33%, and 32% respectively.
The strong performance of these altcoins has sparked interest among investors and analysts. Michaël van de Poppe pointed to Arbitrum's breakout on Friday as a key factor in its success. Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap, highlighted a comment letter from U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester Peirce, which he saw as bullish for automated market makers.
Zcash also caught the attention of analysts, with Arthur Hayes predicting that it could reach $0.50. Michaël van de Poppe noted that liquidity is rotating into altcoins, citing Zcash as an example of capital moving into new narratives.
