AmericanFortress Reveals ZKP-Based Wallet Ownership Proof
AmericanFortress has proposed a novel way to prove crypto wallet ownership using Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs). The researchers, led by Vincenzo Botta and Michal Pospieszalski, have developed a method that allows wallets to prove the origin of multiple addresses or credentials without revealing sensitive information.
The new approach is based on the concept of linkable, post-quantum ZK derivation relations for blockchain DeFi, wallet, and identity systems. This means that wallets can now prove that several public keys come from the same hidden origin, without disclosing the address of that wallet.
The proposed method provides varying degrees of linkability depending on how much information the wallet owner wishes to share. This includes linking things only when necessary, keeping them unlinkable but making them linkable later, or making the relationship between wallets permanently recognizable.
According to AmericanFortress, this approach has several applications, including anti-phishing payments, regulatory compliance, and cross-chain identity. For example, a bridge could verify that a Bitcoin source address and Solana destination address originate from the same hidden secret before releasing funds.
