AmericanFortress Unveils Quantum-Proof Crypto Wallet Scheme
AmericanFortress has developed a post-quantum security scheme called ZK-PoSP, which aims to quantum-proof existing crypto wallet addresses without requiring fund migration or key rotation. The company claims that its approach is more efficient than other solutions, with a one-time proof cost of about a fifth of a cent and transaction proof costs of about an eighth of a cent.
The ZK-PoSP scheme uses hash functions, which are not expected to be broken by quantum computers, to prove ownership without revealing the seed phrase. This is in contrast to other migration-based solutions that require users to rotate their keys or move to new addresses.
The paper introducing ZK-PoSP was published on ePrint and has not yet undergone peer review. However, AmericanFortress claims that its approach is 21x more efficient than the Ethereum Foundation's migration proposal, with a projected 210x improvement once hardware acceleration and proving-system improvements are implemented.
The company's target customer is institutional investors who require high security levels but struggle with migration-based solutions due to compliance and audit requirements. AmericanFortress will license its SDK for node-level upgrades that enable proof verification, which the company believes will be a more feasible solution than persuading millions of users to change their wallets.
