Americans Warm Up to Tokenized Assets When Framed as Practical Finance
A new survey from HarrisX and CTM has found that Americans are open to tokenized assets, but only when presented as a modernization of familiar, regulated finance. The survey, conducted in May and August 2026, involved 2,008 U.S. registered voters and found that while only 31% of Americans are currently familiar with tokenization, interest rises sharply once its practical benefits are explained.
Half of all Americans (50%) express interest in tokenized versions of standard investments after learning what they offer - with interest reaching 85% among current crypto owners and 79% among those already familiar with digital assets. The survey also found that utility wins out over technology, with benefits such as faster settlement, 24/7 access, lower fees, and easier transfers being the strongest selling points for tokenization.
However, trust remains a major issue, with traditional financial institutions holding an advantage over crypto- and tech-native firms. The survey found that 45% of Americans would trust traditional financial institutions to offer tokenized assets, versus 28% for crypto- and tech-native firms.
