Americans Wary of Cryptocurrency in Retirement Plans Amid Growing Concerns About US Retirement Crisis
A recent study by Greenwald Research has found that most Americans are skeptical about using cryptocurrencies in retirement plans. The survey, which polled over 1,200 people aged 25 and older from October 24 to November 14, 2025, revealed that 77% of respondents consider cryptocurrency investments in retirement programs as 'very high' risk.
Furthermore, 53% of those surveyed oppose their employers offering crypto assets as an investment option in retirement plans. This is a concerning trend, especially considering that only 47% of respondents have more than $100,000 in retirement savings, and 18% have no savings at all.
The study also found that Americans are cautious about using artificial intelligence in financial planning, with nearly half (45%) saying they are uncomfortable receiving financial advice from AI. However, there is some optimism, as 34% of respondents see AI as useful for investing, and 32% believe it can aid in retirement planning.
The survey highlights the growing concern about the US's retirement crisis, with 80% of respondents believing that the country is experiencing a major issue. Inflation (73%), market volatility (62%), and potential cuts to Social Security benefits (76%) are among the main concerns cited by Americans.
