Anchorage Digital Enables Cross-Chain Stablecoin Distribution with LayerZero
Anchorage Digital has partnered with LayerZero to enable cross-chain infrastructure for its regulated stablecoins. The first token to adopt the LayerZero Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard is USAT, issued through Anchorage Digital Bank and backed by Tether.
LayerZero supports connectivity across more than 170 networks, allowing Anchorage to move supported stablecoins between blockchain networks without creating separate isolated versions for every chain. This approach aims to address the issue of stablecoin fragmentation, where a token can be highly liquid on one network but awkward to use on another.
Anchorage says other stablecoins, including Western Union's USDPT and OSL's USDGO, are expected to join the integration later. The company is building cross-chain distribution as native infrastructure rather than an afterthought, reflecting a growing trend among regulated stablecoin issuers.
