Anchorage Teams Up with LayerZero for Stablecoin Cross-Chain Capability
Anchorage Digital has partnered with LayerZero to enable cross-chain functionality for its regulated stablecoins, starting with Tether's USAT. This move aims to address the issue of stablecoin fragmentation, where a token may be highly liquid on one network but difficult to use on another.
The partnership uses LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard, which allows for seamless movement of supported stablecoins between blockchain networks. This infrastructure supports over 170 networks, giving Anchorage a broad technical base for its regulated dollar tokens.
While USAT is the first live token under this integration, other stablecoins such as Western Union's USDPT and OSL's USDGO are expected to follow. This indicates that Anchorage is building cross-chain distribution into its issuance layer itself, making it a native infrastructure rather than an afterthought.
