Animoca Ends Reverse-Merger Talks With Currenc
Animoca Brands has ended its reverse-merger talks with Nasdaq-listed Currenc Group and is now exploring alternative routes to a stock market listing.
The company, a major investor in Web3 and artificial intelligence, cited the mismatch between the expected timeline for completing the deal and their short- and medium-term goals as the reason for terminating the discussions.
Animoca Brands' co-founder and Executive Chairman Yat Siu said that the company should prioritize agility over pursuing a merger with Currenc Group. He emphasized that Animoca's plan to relist on a major exchange remains unchanged, although the timeline may vary.
The company is currently undergoing a comprehensive audit process to meet strict regulatory compliance standards, which is expected to pave the way for its return to public markets.
