Animoca Hints at Alternative Routes for Public Listing After Deal with Currenc Group Falls Through
Animoca Brands has put its plans to go public through a reverse merger with Nasdaq-listed Currenc Group on hold. Both parties agreed to suspend the deal after reviewing market conditions and projected timelines. The proposed transaction would have seen Currenc acquire Animoca, with shareholders owning 95% of the combined company.
Yat Siu, executive chairman of Animoca Brands, said that the companies may resume discussions if conditions permit. He emphasized that Animoca will continue to pursue a public listing, but will do so through optimal routes.
Animoca is a Hong Kong-headquartered investment and gaming company with a portfolio including The Sandbox, Moca Network, and Open Campus. It was previously listed on the Australian Securities Exchange before being removed in March 2020.
