Anoma Hands Control of XAN Token Protocol to Its Holders
Anoma's Governance V2 has gone live, handing control of the XAN token protocol to its holders. With this upgrade, token holders can now propose, vote on, and execute changes affecting supply, functionality, treasury, and governance settings.
The new framework uses OpenZeppelin's Governor architecture, introduces vote delegation, and begins linear vesting for previously locked balances over three years from September 29, 2026. Locked XAN still carries full voting power, ensuring holders do not lose influence while tokens vest across the protocol's core economic design.
The voting process is designed to be slow and deliberate. Proposals require at least 25,000 XAN, followed by a seven-day review period, fourteen days of voting, and another fourteen-day timelock before execution. A successful proposal needs both broad participation and patience, with changes taking roughly 35 days from submission to execution.
Anoma has intentionally kept the role of the upgrade council narrow, allowing XAN holders to cancel its scheduled upgrades, replace its members, or remove its permissions entirely. This ensures that final authority remains with the XAN community.
