Anthropic, the company behind the Claude family of AI models, has taken a major step toward going public by making its initial public offering (IPO) filing public. The company plans to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol ANT, with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley leading the underwriting team.
Anthropic reported impressive financial growth in the first half of 2026, with revenue reaching $16.3 billion, a significant jump from $1.2 billion in the same period last year. However, the company also reported a substantial net loss of $80.7 billion, primarily due to a $72.4 billion charge related to changes in the fair value of convertible notes and other instruments.
The company's governance structure includes a Long-Term Benefit Trust that will elect a majority of the board, and an entity owned by its seven co-founders will hold 50.1% of shareholder voting power. This setup makes Anthropic a controlled company under Nasdaq rules, potentially limiting the influence of Class A shareholders.
Anthropic has raised $141.1 billion in total and holds $112.4 billion in cash and cash equivalents, along with $19.3 billion in short-term investments as of June 30, 2026. The company has also pledged to contribute about 847 million non-voting shares to a subsidiary dedicated to its public benefit purpose.
