Three cryptocurrency investors have filed a lawsuit against Apple in the United States after allegedly losing over $1.8 million to a fake Bitcoin wallet app on the App Store.

The plaintiffs claim that they downloaded an app called Sparrow Wallet, which they believed was a legitimate Bitcoin wallet, but it turned out to be a counterfeit version of the service.

According to court filings, one investor lost nearly $875,000, another approximately $840,000, while a third claims losses of about $120,000.

The lawsuit argues that Apple failed to prevent the fake app from being listed on its marketplace, despite repeatedly assuring users that apps undergo rigorous screening before being approved.
