Apple Fixes iOS Flaw Vulnerable to Sophisticated Malware Attacks

Apple has released a security update to patch a vulnerability in iOS that could allow attackers to run malicious code on affected devices. The tech giant confirmed an out-of-bounds write flaw in CoreGraphics, which can be triggered by processing a specially crafted file.

The issue affects iPhone models 11 and later, as well as several recent iPad models. Apple released the fix in iOS 26.7.1 and iPadOS 26.7.1 on September 28th. The company stated that the flaw may have been exploited in an 'extremely sophisticated attack' against specific targeted individuals using older iOS versions.

Security firm SlowMist warned crypto users to update their Apple devices immediately, avoid suspicious links and files, and be cautious when downloading apps or opening content from unknown sources. The firm's investigation into the vulnerability found that it can allow attackers to access Keychain data and files from other apps, potentially exposing private keys, seed phrases, login credentials, and other sensitive information.
