Apple, Google Explore Stablecoin Ambitions Through Job Listings
Apple and Google have posted job listings that hint at their stablecoin and tokenized-deposit ambitions. According to Decrypt, Apple's listing seeks a Financial Product Strategy Lead for its Apple Pay team in New York, focusing on products supporting Apple Card and Apple Cash within the Wallets, Payments, and Commerce organization.
The ideal candidate should have experience with stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and blockchain technology, as well as conventional expertise in peer-to-peer payments, credit cards, and international payment systems. Apple's listing emphasizes the need for analytical rigor combined with a strong business sense to drive projects forward.
Google's posting, meanwhile, is looking for an Industry Principal Architect for Web3 based in Hong Kong. This role involves advising blockchain foundations, exchanges, custodians, and fintech institutions while identifying friction points across the Web3 industry and feeding that information into Google Cloud's product roadmap.
The listing requires expertise in stablecoin payment systems, tokenized deposits, and custody infrastructure, as well as familiarity with Hong Kong-specific compliance regimes under the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission. The role is notable given Google's existing involvement in Web3 projects such as the Universal Ledger and its support for the Open USD stablecoin project.
