Apple Patch Targets iPhone Crypto Vulnerability

Apple has released a security update for its iPhone and iPad devices to address a critical vulnerability. According to SlowMist's Chief Information Security Officer, 23pds, the patch may fix an issue that was used in attacks targeting cryptocurrency users. The update, iOS 26.7.1 and iPadOS 26.7.1, addresses a security problem in the CoreGraphics component.

The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-86950, allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code on a device when a specially crafted malicious file is processed. Apple fixed the issue by improving bounds checks. The update affects iPhone 11 and later models, as well as various iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad, and iPad mini devices.
