The founder of DeFi analytics platform DefiLlama reported that Apple left a fraudulent app impersonating their service on the App Store for months, only removing it after the team demonstrated that the software could drain cryptocurrency from a funded wallet. The fake app was reportedly downloaded and used to drain funds from a test wallet before Apple took action.

According to 0xngmi, the founder of DefiLlama, the team had been trying to remove the impersonating app for months, but their reports were ignored by Apple until they demonstrated direct financial harm. The official DefiLlama iPhone app is now live, with Apple listing DEFILLAMA LIMITED as its provider.

This incident highlights a recurring problem on major app stores: fake apps targeting crypto brands, which can intercept user credentials or private keys and cause real financial harm. In November 2023, a similar case involving a fake Ledger Live app on the Microsoft Store resulted in the theft of $588,000 across 38 transactions.

In other news, Evernorth Holdings has amended its subscription agreements for a private placement tied to its proposed Nasdaq listing via Armada Acquisition Corp. II. The revised terms use XRP's market value at closing to determine the final deal terms, giving investors greater XRP exposure per share if market conditions are favorable.

The change is seen as bullish for XRP by crypto commentator X Finance Bull, who believes that if Evernorth completes its Nasdaq listing and attracts new public-market capital, it could expand its XRP treasury and increase the amount of XRP represented by each share over time. Key backers, including Arrington Capital, SBI Group, Ripple, Pantera Capital, Kraken, and GSR, support the revised terms.
