Arbitrum Price Swings 3.15% Amid Looming Token Unlock
Arbitrum's (ARB) price has seen significant volatility in recent hours, with a 3.15% swing over the past four hours. This movement is taking place within a larger downtrend driven by the looming token unlock and general L2 risk repricing.
The upcoming token unlock on September 20th, 2026, is expected to add around 1.39-2.03 percent of circulating supply, worth roughly $12-13 million, into the market. This has led to selling pressure and a decline in price over the past week, with ARB down about 19.71%.
A recent institutional buy from the 21Shares Arbitrum ETP (ticker AARB) added around 3.862 million ARB, worth approximately $515,780, into the market just hours before the 4-hour swing. This move, combined with skewed liquidation maps and trading setups on X, contributed to a local bounce and some short covering.
The broader altcoin market is modestly bid, making it easier for an oversold token like ARB to experience significant price movements on relatively modest net buying. The 3.15% move can be seen as a result of positioning and microstructure around the upcoming unlock within a still bearish medium-term trend.
