Arbitrum Token Surges as US Regulators Clear Path for Tokenized Securities
Arbitrum's token price surged 31% on Friday to approach the $0.2300 level, marking four consecutive days of gains and a weekly increase above 70%. The rally coincides with growing interest in tokenized real-world assets and a new US regulatory framework for trading these securities.
The SEC granted qualifying tokenized securities venues a five-year conditional exemption on Thursday, allowing eligible platforms to facilitate trading in tokenized National Market System stocks using automated market makers and permissioned liquidity pools. This framework could support round-the-clock trading and faster settlement of eligible assets.
Participating venues must comply with conditions that include using auditable smart contracts on public permissionless blockchains and observing limits on trading activity. Arbitrum, an Ethereum Layer-2 network, could benefit from this regulatory change if regulated platforms choose it as infrastructure for tokenized securities.
