Arc Mainnet Launches with USD Coin as Fee Currency
Arc has launched its mainnet, bringing USDC directly into its core design as the fee and settlement currency. This approach differs from other chains that use a separate token for gas payments. By utilizing USD Coin (USDC) for fees, Arc aims to make it easier for institutional users to manage their treasuries, maintaining costs in dollars.
The network's deterministic sub-second finality targets payments and capital market activity, where minor delays can create friction. To achieve this, the platform relies on a robust architecture that ensures prompt transaction processing.
Arc has partnered with 11 external validators, including prominent players like BlackRock, Visa, Mastercard, and DTCC, to ensure network stability and security. Additionally, over 100 developers created applications prior to the launch, demonstrating early interest in the platform.
