Argentina Joins CARF Framework, Committed to Tax Reporting by 2029
Argentina has committed to implementing the OECD's Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) by September 2029, joining 76 other jurisdictions in a system aimed at extending cross-border tax information exchanges to crypto assets.
The country will need to bring CARF into its domestic legal framework, establish the required reporting system, and put arrangements in place for information sharing with other tax authorities before it can begin exchanging data on September 2029.
CARF was developed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) along with G20 countries to provide standardized information about crypto transactions involving residents of participating jurisdictions.
Argentina's commitment to CARF is expected to give its tax authorities access to information about crypto transactions conducted abroad, helping them address tax evasion and avoidance risks associated with crypto assets.
