ARK Invest Brings Tokenized Share Class to Ethereum via Securitize
ARK Invest has launched a tokenized share class for its ARK Venture Fund on Ethereum via Securitize's regulated platform. This move allows investors to buy shares in the fund, which holds stakes in companies like SpaceX and OpenAI, but not directly in these companies themselves.
The new structure is based on a fractional interest in the regulated fund, rather than tokenized company shares. This means that ARKVX, the tokenized share class, represents a portion of the fund's ownership, not direct equity in underlying companies like SpaceX or OpenAI.
ARK Invest emphasized that while trading on-chain can provide more liquidity, the interval fund format means liquidity remains governed by official repurchase periods. This means that investors must participate in scheduled liquidity windows, rather than instant tradability sometimes associated with blockchain-based assets.
