ARK Invest Buys the Dip in Coinbase and SpaceX Shares
Cathie Wood's ARK Invest has been actively buying beaten-down growth stocks in July 2026, focusing on Coinbase Global and SpaceX shares that have fallen sharply from their recent highs. On July 11, ARK purchased Coinbase shares across three of its flagship exchange-traded funds, ARKF, ARKK, and ARKW, marking a significant move into the cryptocurrency exchange as its stock faced pressure.
The same week, ARK made multiple large acquisitions of SpaceX stock, including a $17.8 million purchase on July 10 alone and another $20.5 million on July 20, demonstrating a consistent pattern of buying the dip on one of its highest-conviction holdings. SpaceX stock has fallen sharply since its June 13 initial public offering at $135 per share, sliding to around $127 by late July, a decline of roughly 31 percent in just one month.
The firm's buying activity reflects Wood's well-documented strategy of deploying capital when disruptive growth stocks face temporary weakness. In June, ARK had purchased over $500 million worth of SpaceX shares on the IPO day itself, and it continued accumulating throughout July as the stock declined. The firm also bought over $75 million in crypto-related stocks in June, including $44 million in Coinbase, during what the industry called a 'bloodbath' for digital assets.
