ARK Invest Dives into Solana Staking with $30,000 ETF Purchase
ARK Invest, the U.S.-based asset management firm led by Cathie Wood, has made a significant move into crypto investment. On July 27, one of its funds purchased $30,000 worth of shares in the 3iQ Solana staking exchange-traded fund (ETF). This marks a notable addition to ARK's growing exposure to digital assets.
The 3iQ Solana staking ETF provides investors with exposure to Solana (SOL) price movements while also generating additional yield through staking rewards. This dual structure distinguishes it from traditional crypto ETFs that focus solely on spot or futures exposure. ARK's purchase signals continued institutional interest in staking-based crypto products.
The transaction is part of a broader portfolio strategy by ARK Invest, which frequently rebalances its portfolios based on long-term conviction and market conditions. On the same day as the Solana ETF investment, ARK also bought $14.1 million worth of SpaceX shares and sold $1.16 million worth of Robinhood shares.
The investment in a Solana staking ETF is significant for several reasons. It underscores growing institutional appetite for crypto products that offer yield generation beyond simple price speculation. Staking ETFs, which allow investors to earn rewards by participating in network validation, are seen as a more sustainable way to gain crypto exposure.
