ARK Invest Tokenizes Venture Fund, Boosts Securitize Shares
Cathie Wood's ARK Invest has taken another step into the world of blockchain-based infrastructure, tokenizing its flagship Venture Fund through Securitize on Ethereum. This move will allow investors to gain exposure to the actively managed portfolio, which includes companies like OpenAI and Stripe.
Securitize Corp., the company behind this infrastructure, saw its shares jump more than 15% after the announcement and added another 1% overnight. The tokenization of ARK's Venture Fund is a significant development in the evolution of capital markets, according to Wood.
The launch comes on the heels of the US Securities and Exchange Commission creating a new regulatory pathway for tokenized U.S. stocks to trade onchain last week. This 'Innovation Exemption' will allow qualifying Tokenized Securities Venues (TSVs) to trade tokenized National Market System stocks without being classified as exchanges.
ARK Invest had already invested in Securitize in October 2025, committing to advancing institutional adoption of tokenized securities and strengthening capital markets infrastructure. The company's CEO, Cathie Wood, stated that this move is a natural extension of its mission to democratize access to technologically enabled disruptive innovation.
