Ark Sees Bitcoin Reaching $16 Trillion by 2030
Ark Investment Management, led by Cathie Wood, is optimistic about Bitcoin's future and predicts it will reach a market capitalization of $16 trillion by 2030. This would translate to a price of $797,000 per coin, a potential upside of 920% from the current level.
The firm identifies six catalysts that could drive this growth: institutional investment, digital gold, emerging-market safe haven, nation-state treasury, corporate treasury, and Bitcoin on-chain financial services. Two of these catalysts account for the bulk of the forecast: global fund managers parking 2.5% of their $200 trillion in managed assets in Bitcoin, adding $5 trillion to its market cap, and Bitcoin capturing between 20% and 60% of gold's $32 trillion market cap.
However, Ark has reduced the size of the emerging-market safe-haven opportunity by 80% due to high adoption rates of stablecoins and other alternatives. This raises concerns about Bitcoin's ability to reach its predicted target, as it will have to overcome 'tricky math' to achieve a $16 trillion market cap.
The recent recovery in Bitcoin might continue, but the chances of it soaring to $800,000 per coin by 2030 are slim, according to Ark's reduced forecast.
