ARK Venture Fund Goes Mainstream with Tokenized Share Class
The ARK Venture Fund has been made available to retail investors through a tokenized share class called ARKVX. This new platform was created in partnership between ARK Invest and Securitize, allowing individual investors to access a portfolio of private tech companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, and Databricks.
The tokenized shares are listed on the Ethereum blockchain, with Securitize handling all aspects of compliance, issuance, and investor relations. The SEC granted exemptive relief for this initiative, allowing ARK to introduce a tokenized share class alongside its traditional shares.
The underlying assets remain private and off-chain, while the fund interest itself is tokenized. Investors own a blockchain-native representation of their stake without affecting the private companies' operations.
