ARMA Passes Committee Vote, But Will it Boost Bitcoin?
A bill to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve has passed the House Financial Services Committee. The American Reserve Modernization Act (ARMA) aims to formalize an executive order issued in March 2025, which temporarily mandated that the government cease auctioning off confiscated tokens.
The current reserve holds around $27.6 billion worth of BTC, primarily as a result of large-scale confiscation cases. The bill stipulates that eligible tokens must be locked for 20 years and require audited reports annually.
Contrary to expectations, the price of Bitcoin (BTC) did not surge after the committee vote. In fact, it fell by roughly 3.3% on the day of the vote.
