Assam Man Arrested for Rs 1,071 Crore Cybercrime Scheme with Chinese Links
A man from Assam has been arrested by the Gujarat CID for allegedly being involved in over 1,090 cybercrimes across India, totaling Rs 1,071.5 crore.
The accused, Rafiqul Alam (25), was the 'mastermind' behind transferring tainted money into 1,758 bank accounts and converting it into cryptocurrencies, which he sent to China.
Alam used WhatsApp and Telegram to connect with Chinese criminals, exchanging financial information directly with them.
The CID's cyber cell arrested Alam in Barpeta, Assam, after a separate investigation into a 'digital arrest' case led to the prevention of 10 such cases across different states through counseling.
